The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you rights over your personal data. As a member, you can use the most important ones yourself, straight away, from your account settings. For everything else, write to us: it is free.
Do it yourself in your settings
- Download my data: in the “Your data” card, download a JSON file with your account, profile, preferences, Minecraft link, forum threads and posts, profile posts, inventory and activation log. This covers your rights of access and portability for the data kept by the website; for data held on the Whoniverse SMP, write to us.
- Correct your details: change your bio, profile picture, appearance and password in Settings. To change your username or e-mail address, write to us.
- Delete my account: your profile, profile and background pictures, inventory, activation log and Minecraft link are deleted, as well as the profile posts you wrote and those on your profile. Your username and e-mail address are replaced by an anonymous placeholder and you are logged out everywhere. Your forum threads and posts stay, shown as written by “Deleted user”. The last administrator of the website must first appoint another one.
- Object to the online members list: untick “Show me in the online members list”. You can also untick “Allow other people to post on my profile”.
- Unlink your Minecraft account in the “Minecraft account” card.
- Withdraw your consent to YouTube and X at any time with Cookie settings, also available at the bottom of every page.
If your account is suspended, you cannot log in: write to us and we will send you your data or delete your account within one month.
These links ask you to log in first.
Your rights in plain words
- Access
- Know whether we process data about you, get a copy of it and learn why we use it, who receives it and for how long we keep it (GDPR, art. 15).
- Rectification
- Have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed (art. 16).
- Erasure
- Have your data deleted, for example when we no longer need it, when you withdraw your consent or when you object to its use. This right has limits, for instance when we must keep data to comply with the law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims (art. 17).
- Restriction
- Ask us to stop using your data, except to store it, while we check its accuracy or your objection, or when you need it kept for a legal claim (art. 18).
- Notification
- When we correct, delete or restrict data, we tell the recipients we shared it with, unless that is impossible, and we tell you who they are if you ask (art. 19).
- Portability
- Receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and have it sent to another service where technically possible (art. 20).
- Objection
- Object at any time, for reasons related to your situation, to uses based on our legitimate interest. We then stop, unless we have compelling legitimate grounds or need the data for legal claims (art. 21). We do not use your data for marketing.
- Automated decisions
- Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects on you (art. 22). We do not make such decisions.
- Consent
- Withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. This does not affect what happened before you withdrew it (art. 7(3)).
How to make a request
Write to us by e-mail. You will find our other contact details in the legal notice. Tell us which right you want to use and, if you have an account, your username. To make sure nobody else gets your data, write from the e-mail address of your account if you can; otherwise we may ask for information to confirm that the account is yours.
- Free of charge. If a request is clearly unfounded or excessive, for example because it is repeated, we may refuse it or ask for a reasonable fee, and we will explain why.
- Within one month. We answer without undue delay and at the latest one month after receiving your request. For complex or numerous requests, this can be extended by two more months: we will tell you within the first month and explain why.
- If we do not act on your request, we tell you why within one month, and you can then complain to the supervisory authority or go to court.
Complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority
If you think we are not respecting your rights, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian supervisory authority. The authority asks you to contact us first, so that we have a chance to solve the problem. You can also complain to the authority of the EU country where you live or work, or go to court.
